TECHNICOLOR: BREAKING THE COLOR BARRIER IN TECH
The Experience
History is a collective of memorable moments that have passed by us. The same holds true for these moments captured by myself. On this night, I got to see Big Brother Big Sister NYC, DropBox and SiriusXM make history. I thank the commercial-free radio station for allowing both Allan Boomer and Tiffany Hawkins to have this conversation surrounding the topic of black prosperity. I loved the conversation because it reminded me of the conversations that we used to have in the Black Student Union and Caribbean Student Association meetings. Although SiriusSM is mainly known for music from every genre, live play-by-play sports, the biggest news and the hottest entertainment their Urban View series is making strides. They’ve allowed two amazing people to hold up a torch that will light a road for those who are following behind them. Overall, I loved being there for this episode and I can’t wait for the next time that I get to capture images and listen in on conversations like this one at SiriusXM!

The Momentum Advisors is a weekly show, hosted by Allan Boomer and Tiffany Hawkins, that centers on personal financial advice. The focal point of the show is to spread information on entrepreneurship and insight into how you can build a successful legacy for yourself and your community. This discussion that I covered dealt with the black community and how they could grow in the tech world while having to overcome initial roadblocks, such as tokenism and more. On top of spending their days helping clients build and manage their personal wealth, Allan Boomer and Tiffany Hawkins are Co-Founders of a Wealth Management Firm with over $300 million in assets under advisement. So the advice that they are giving about successful entrepreneurship comes from a place of experience and not one of opinion. As serial entrepreneurs who have seen success in their own franchises across multiple industries, they both feel a personal obligation to reach back and pull others from their community up. I love what they are doing because I know that when I get to a place of success like them, I will do the same for everyone in my community.
Momentum Advisors: THE CONVERSATION
Allan Boomer and Tiffany Hawkins had a great discussion with Chad Sanders, Gregory Lowe II and Darlene Gillard regarding the black communities entry into the tech world. There was lots of great points being made but, the highlight of the event actually came from it’s ending. So I’ll pose the question to you now. In an ever growing tech world, what would be the “vibranium” the black community would need to not only infiltrate, but recreate our own Wakanda?
