THE EXPERIENCE
The Blackbird Film Festival is an AMAZING event! If you are ever in Cortland, New York for some reason I would advise you to ask around and attend the event in April. The festival is FREE for all to attend and prides itself on the high quality of films, so you won't be disappointed. The event is also an intimate festival which makes it a great place to meet fellow filmmakers and form lasting bonds! Locals, as well as people all over the country, have the opportunity to watch films falling under the genres: narrative (short/extended), documentaries (short/extended), animated (short/extended), web series, student films, one-minute films, race, politics and gender identity. If you are a filmmaker or interested in catching a quick film with a couple of friends please submit and/or attend their 5th season, the 2018 Blackbird Film Festival film screenings from April 20th to April 22nd in Cortland, NY.
The Blackbird Film Festival is always looking for energetic interns interested in media production, advertising, public relations, and event planning to join the team! I've got to say, they produce the coolest interns I've ever encountered in my life. They're personable and will always keep you laughing and intrigued as you enjoy pastries/finger foods and films.
There's nothing like a little Cortland "towny" love. The residents of Cortland County are a ball of fun. The festival has always had its support from the community, which religiously supports their local events both big and small. If you are planning on moving to Cortland and hosting events be prepared for hundreds of supporters, a lot of love and much laughter.
